Porter and Romig give a brief history of the Saints in Jackson County, Missouri between 1831 and 1834. The authors note that the after Saints arrived in Missouri they were soon met with adversity by local people, and eventually had to leave due to persecution. The authors view this history through the lens of the Prairie Stake, one of the prominent LDS stakes in Missouri at that time.
