Darowski gives a brief history of the concept of a school of the prophets. The term was first used by other Protestant churches in America as a training ground for the ministry. Both Harvard and Yale Universities were originally termed "school of the prophets" as were other institutions of the day. Ultimately, the 1833 School of the Prophets in Kirtland was an expression of the Prophet Joseph Smith's spirit of innovation and refinement.
