"This dissertation examines the intersection of Arnold van Gennep's anthropological explanation of rites of passage, Latter-day Saint (Mormon) religious doctrines and two LDS plays, Saturday's Warrior and Huebener. The study establishes that the main characters in the two plays conform to van Gennep's model in their coming of age, and that there is a strong movement in the plays toward incorporation, which is the final phase in a rite of passage. This movement is consistent with LDS doctrine and cultural attitudes." [Author's abstract]
