This article is an analysis of "About and Against Mormonism," a tract by Dr. Peter Christian Kierkegaard published in Denmark in 1855. Dr. Kierkegaard first encounted Mormonism after meeting LDS missionaries and attending a cottage meeting in his parish. He refutes some of the concepts that the missionaries were then teaching at that time, namely that the Book of Mormon is the Stick of Joseph, the Restoration, and the need for a gathering. This article includes the complete tract in English with footnotes, and an introduction titled 'Note from the Editor', which explains why the editors of BYU Studies felt this would be a valuable addition to academic study of the doctrine and history of Mormonism.
