The 1910 boxing heavy weight championship between African American, Jack Johnson and Caucasian, Jim Jeffries is discussed. Prior to the championship, there was a push to have the competition take place in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced that the church had a stance against prize fighting. The fight was held in Reno, Nevada with Jack Johnson winning championship, causing racial tension in Salt Lake City.
