This article is the story of Memory Grove, from the earliest years when it was a location for pioneer flour and saw mills, to the establishment of the location as a memorial park to veterans of World War I through the Vietnam War. Several local chapters of national veterans and other military groups contributed memorials to the park over the years. It was the location for bicentennial projects in 1976. Although the area was badly damaged by a tornado in 1999, the public supported a restoration of the grove.
