Spencer W. Kimball was born 28 March 1895 in Salt Lake City, Utah. His life was filled with important events that molded him into the person he became, and prepared him for his service in the kingdom of God. These events included: his childhood in Arizona, marriage to Camilla Eyring, employment as a bank clerk, call to the apostleship, and his final call to be President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During President Kimball's time as Prophet, he encouraged the Saints to strive to become better. Many of his teachings are highlighted in this article. Despite many illnesses and health challenges, he persevered in his church service until his death on 5 November 1985.
