The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was represented in print in Japan long before any oficial representative arrived, but these descriptions, many published by other Christian sects, were rarely flattering and usually focused on the practice of polygamy. The religion was portrayed as rediculous and many perceived it to be a threat to Japanese culture. This chapter shows how the LDS Missionaries took on some of the translations to try and set the records straight.
