Madsen gives a brief overview of the wives of Mormon missionaries, and discussess how their presence in the field expanded the boundaries of the religious and social spheres. Madsen also discusses the factors that contributed to a more clearly defined and diversified expectation for Mormon missionary wives and how they became direct contributors to the missionary effort.
