As a missionary in Scotland in 1840, Orson Pratt produced the first published account of the First Vision, "An Interesting Account of Several Remarkable Visions, and of the Late Discovery of Ancient American Records." In addressing this pamphlet, Whittaker gives a brief biographical sketch of Orson Pratt, discusses the mission in Scotland and the pamphlet itself, and shows how the pamphlet and Pratt's philosophy affected the construction of Church theology. Pratt's experiences in Edinburgh colored his approach to religion, and the pamphlet he published clearly shows the method of systematic teaching he employed throughout his life.
