An overview of Utah during World War II through the experience of Utahns who lived from 1941 -1945 is given. Several factors made the state a unique asset during the war, including its inland position, natural resources, and hard-working populace. Church leaders proclaimed peace but supported the American war effort. Several personal accounts from Utahns are included, not just from Utahns engaged on the front, but also from minorities and those who served at home. Casualties were high for Utah, even among those who helped the war effort at home- the coal mining industry especially. Utahns, with the rest of the country, gladly celebrated the end of the war.
