While no journal or autobiography of Kerstina Nilsdotter exists, much can be guessed about her personality based on her life choices. Hers is the story of a common Swedish convert and immigrant to Utah. Huber frames the events of Kerstina's life with known facts, such as the dates of her birth, baptism, emigration, marriage, and death. The rest of Kerstina's life story is postulated, based on patterns of typical life at the time, and is meant to serve as a record of one of thousands of Scandinavia's ordinary converts.
