Speek provides a short biography of James J. Strang's third wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" McNutt, focusing on her life after the death of her husband. As he lay dying, Strang told Betsy that she would be the last to deny him. Information about Gabriel Strang, son of James and Elizabeth, is also included. Later in her life Betsy lived among members of the RLDS Church, but it is unclear whether or not she joined that church. Gabriel, however, held fast to the Strangite Church and in "some ways, it was Gabriel rather than his mother, Betsy, who was the last to deny James Strang."
