This essay chronicles the history of the Japanese Mission after it was reopened by President Heber J. Grant in 1935 and based in Hawai'i where it remained until it was absorbed into the Hawaiian Mission in 1950. During this time it was temporarily renamed the Central Pacific Mission during World War II.
