13 May 1850 to 10 April 1867. After an autobiography about his life in England and his conversion, Harris leaves England and sails to Gibraltar. He works on a freight ship and is healed by a priesthood blessing after breaking his collarbone. He preaches the gospel and tours the LDS churches in England before going to America aboard the Avon. After a lengthy sea voyage, he arrives in New Orleans, where he works for a month in a machinery shop to earn money then travels by steamer to Kanesville, Iowa. Harris writes poetry about where he is at from time to time. He joins Captain Henry Millar's wagon company and travels west. Harris records trail conditions at length, and rejoices upon arriving in Salt Lake City. He boards with various members of the Church and works hauling wood, fishing and other things. He settles in Pleasant Grove, Utah and assists in a Bishop's council with a variety duties. He courts and marries Ann Burraston. They have a daughter and Harris works on his farm. He records the names of those rebaptised during the Reformation as well as speeches by Brigham Young and other authorities encouraging recommitment to the gospel. Harris consecrates his property and records several proclamations given by Young during the Utah War. He is made a constable and 2nd councilor in Springville's bishopric and marries two more women, Sarah and Mariah Loader. He records programs for several municipal ceremonies and celebrations.
