Russell points out differences between the RLDS/Community of Christ church (prarie Mormons) and LDS Church (mountain Mormons) during two eras: first century and in the past forty years. Issues that divided the two churches in the first century included polygamy, lineal succession in the presidency, plurality of gods, baptism for the dead and temple rituals, and race. New differences between the churches in recent years include changed RLDS views on the Book of Mormon, nature of revelation, Joseph Smith, women in the priesthood, homosexuality, apostasy and restoration, and life after death.
