The authors discuss the evolution of church policy regarding sister missionaries. They discuss how these policies have affected the perception of sister missionaries. In addition, reasons are discussed of why policy discourages women from choosing a mission, thus keeping down the number of sister missionaries. A policy timeline is included at the end of the article.
