"One entry in 1838. Then entry dated 1842 lists names of various members of family and their dates; there are obvious later additions. Diary starts in 1853. Author resided in Parowan, Iron County, Utah. Member of high council. Many kinds of work mentioned in short entries: threshing, hauling poles, gleaning, making desks for school, fixing cow pen, plastering house. Put in some time at iron works. Attended singing practice. Sunday meetings. Author not verbose, Uses "dottoes" when possible. Recipes for medicine, one to cure the "canker."
