Features a splinter group of Mormons who settled in the Texas Hill Country during 1844-58, especially the development of the town of Bandera, which became the center of Mormon cattle ranching operations. Led by Lyman Wight, who clashed with Brigham Young, the Texas Mormons established deep roots in Bandera despite continual conflict with Comanche Indians, eventually coming to dominate the economics and politics of the town and forming the religious community that launched an enduring revival of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints after the Civil War.
