March 9, 1879 to 1913. Diary begins with an autobiographical sketch, including a patriarchal blessing provided by John Smith. Daily entries begin on March 9, 1879 in Grantsville, Tooele County, Utah. Anderson recounts daily life in Grantsville, including family births, Church callings, Church leaders, city government, his participation in the Grantsville Brass Band, and sheep hearding. Anderson, a native of Sweden, gains his American citizenship. In 1884, Wilford Woodruff calls Anderson and his family to settle in St. Johns, Apache County, Arizona. Anderson gives a detailed account of the trip. He recounts daily life in the Arizona colonies, including conferences, visits by Church leaders, sheep hearding, and his job at the local drug store. Anthon H. Lund called Anderson as bishop of the St. Johns Ward in 1892. Anderson travels to Salt Lake City in 1893 to attend the Salt Lake Temple dedication. He returns to Arizona where he mets with Andrew Jenson who is on a history-gathering tour of the Arizona colonies. Anderson recounts political difficulties and religious disputes over "Round-Dancing." He gives a detailed account of burial and funeral preparations for his son, Charles F., who died in Grantsville, Utah. Anderson provides a detailed account of his mission to Sweden from March 1908 to April 1910.
