In 1984, Rodney Stark made an astronomical prediction about the future growth of LDS church membership, a prediction which has subsequently been seen as modest. The defense of his prediction has evolved into Stark's further sociological study of Mormonism that includes specific theoretical models which have been extracted from and applied to the Latter-day Saints. The majority of this book consists of Stark's previously published work.
