(This is one of many articles by these authors attempting to disprove Joseph Smith's involvement in plural marriage). An article favoring monogamous marriage was written by Oliver Cowdery, approved by a general assembly in Kirtland, and published in the 1835 Doctrine and Covenants. In order to discredit this "Marriage" article, Brigham Young and Joseph F. Smith "made false charges" that Oliver Cowdery himself was a polygamist.
