Packer lists ten secondhand accounts that refer to a cave in the Hill Cumorah where the golden plates were returned to Moroni by Joseph Smith. This cave was supposedly a repository for all the records written by the Book of Mormon people. These accounts do not satisfy the question of whether this was an actual cave in the hillside or whether it was a visionary place. They were shared to teach that more knowledge will be restored to the earth, that God controls the treasures of the earth, and that with the restoration of the gospel a war between good and evil has commenced.
