The author posits that while many Latter-day Saints try to quote scripture or modern prophets to justify the doctrine of black priesthood denial, no such doctrine exists. Rather, it was a church policy that denied blacks the priesthood privileges. He explores the outgrowths of the scriptural "myths" surrounding their explanations for priesthood denial and shows why he believes the scriptures do not support those myths.
