Eye-witness account by author, who happened to be in Carthage (neither pro- nor anti-Mormon). Witnessed the shootings by the mob and insists that Joseph was not shot until after he landed amidst the mob, contrary to popular story of the time. Says he later 'yielded obediende to the gospel' and knows Joseph Smith was a prophet.
