November 21, 1846 to July 23, 1847. Lee arrives in Winter Quarters, Nebraska. He runs a general store and most of the entries involve his business dealings. He expresses a keen interest in religious matters, recording sermons and seventies' meetings. Lee is busy preparing to cross the Plains until he receives a call to establish a church farm at Summer Quarters, Nebraska. Lee's diary is the official record of Summer Quarters. Occasionally, he writes of his complicated domestic relations, as he takes three wives (for a total of fourteen marriages) and loses another. May 11, 1859 to July 24, 1859. Life continues as usual for Lee, as he works on his farm in Harmony, Utah. He refers to being wanted for the Mountain Meadows Massacre, and the high tensions between Mormons and non-Mormons. Lee is preoccupied, however, with various disputes with his neighbors.
