'The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, commonly referred to as the Mormon Church, has a long tradition of recognizing important places and events associated with its history and development. In the United States, Church heritage sites can be found from New England to Southern California and include memorials, living history sites, museums, restored buildings, temples, and other sacred places. In addition, various locales across the country annually host pageants associated with Mormon history. The purpose of this paper is to identify the major heritage sites associated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and explain why so much time, money, and effort are invested in the production and maintenance of these sites.'
