This essay traces Christian faith through medieval Europe by looking at the texts of three hymns in the current LDS hymnal which were written during that time period. The essay first discusses Theodulf (ninth century) and 'All Glory, Laud, and Honor,' then Bernard of Clairvaux (1090-1153) and 'Jesus, the very thought of thee,' and finally St. Francis of Assisi (1181-1226) and his 'All Creatures of Our God and King.'
