In 1903, Charles Ellis Johnson visited and photographed views of street life in Jerusalem. He was the earliest Mormon professional photographer to do so. He was contracted to take pictures of the holy city by Madame Mountford for an exhibit at the 1904 World's Fair. Some of the images which Johnson took are shown in this article
