Excerpts from the 1998 BYU Annual University Conference address stated that as the Church grows, the demand for an education from a Church-sponsored university increases. The quality of students and faculty will be higher with the increase of applicants. More graduates will attend graduate school. All of these changes will bring additional pressure onto BYU. To emphasize the significance of Brigham Young University, the story was told of President John Taylor telling Zina Young Williams of a visit from Brigham Young as a spirit to tell Taylor of the great importance of the school
