Daniel Allen-- Pioneer Tanner (9 Dec 1804 - 15 Jan 1892)
Details of the life of Daniel Allen, Jr. (1804-1892) are chronicled. He and his wife, Mary Ann, joined the Church in 1834. He lived in Kirtland, Far West, and Nauvoo. In 1849, he and his family traveled to Utah. He was the first to establish a tanning business. He lived in Sanpete and Utah counties until 1863, when they went to southern Utah. He lived at various times at St. George, Parowan, Panguitch, and finally in Escalante. An annotated genealogical summary for Allen, his wives, and children follows the narrative (p. 29-39).
