This article describes the behind-the-scenes organizing, planning, and preparing undertaken to move the emigrants through to Salt Lake. It describes the work involved in purchasing and warehousing supplies and provisions and coordinating the down-and-back wagons and teams months in advance of the arrival of the emigrants at the outfitting post.
