Utah's agrarian landscape, initially modeled on Joseph Smith's inspired City of Zion Plat, is disappearing as the state 'veers toward the megalopolis.' As a geographer and conservationist, Wright expresses his displeasure about this development. Wright was 'stunned' to find a remnant of the archtypal Utah landscape in the Mormon Mexican towns of Colonia Juarez and Colonia Dublan. He was generally pleased to see this form of landscape preserved, only being disappointed in the obvious division of races and social classes
