This article examines various efforts by Americans and Israelis to settle their respective frontiers by learning from each other. It describes how the Israeli government has developed programs to methodically establish numerous urban colonies within its borders. The author briefly mentions that the Mormon settlement of Utah is the 'only comparable case of extensive, centralized colonization by a distinct group.' (p. 1213)
