With Utah becoming a hub for pioneers heading West, both Mormon and non-Mormon, many conflicts arose for land ownership in the the region. This thesis analyzes this conflicting nature with relation to the Mormon concept of Zion, or being a perfect place of Saints under God's law, and how this contradicted the use of governmental lands owned by the United States.
