A study of the of Works Progress Administration, instituted by President Roosevelt in 1935 near the end of the Great Depression, and how this effected artistic representation during this time period of renewal and hope. Torlief Knaphus was a Latter-day Saint sculptor in Utah during this time period known for Handcart Monument on Temple Square and the Kill Cumorah Monument.
