"It is the purpose of this paper (1) to give a brief survey of the Mormon Colonies in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico; (2) to trace the relations between two of these colonies, Colonia Dublan and Colonia Juarez, and Francisco Villa during the years from 1910 through 1917; (3) to trace the relations between these two colonies and the Pershing Punitive Expedition; and (4) to show the invaluable assistance given the American soldiers, in their pursuit of Francisco Villa, by the many Mormons employed by the United States government as scouts and trackers."
