"The purpose of this study was to determine if significant differences existed between Navajo students at BYU who had participated in the Indian Student Placement Service (ISPS) of the LDS Church and those students who had never participated in ISPS. Comparisons were also made to determine if significant differences existed among students with varying years of ISPS participation. Areas examined included: (1)educational level of natural parents; (2)age subjects entered BYU; (3)year subjects entered BYU; (4)semesters of college completed; (5)grade point average; (6)college graduation; (7)LDS mission served; (8)LDS temple marriage. The findings indicated that the ISPS subjects were younger, 65 percent female, and their fathers were less educated. ISPS subjects had higher rates of college graduation, missionary service and temple marriage but the differences were not significant. Subjects with increased years of ISPS experience were significantly more likely to graduate from college, serve on LDS missions and marry in LDS temples." [Author's abstract]
