Following World War II, Canadian wheat sent to Germany, prevented many German Mormons from dying from starvation. Shipments of cracked wheat donated by Mormon farmers in southern Alberta and milled in the Ellison Flour Mill in Lethbridge benefited the givers and receivers. It demonstrated the great value of the Welfare Plan and improved the image of the Church in Germany.
