A study of 759 Utah married couples, a majority of which were Mormons, was undertaken to identify possible age-linked differences in the definition and enactment of family roles. With respect to both attitudes and behavior, no trend was observable in the data that would suggest that there is a greater tendency toward non-traditional family roles. Variables measured included preferences for the division of labor by sex, role enactment, marital decision-making, and attitudes about alternative family styles.
