After having served as editor of the "Territorial Enterprise," Nevada's foremost newspaper, Charles C. Goodwin moved to Utah in 1880. He bought the "Salt Lake Tribune" and assumed the position of editor. In 1901 he sold the "Tribune." He was unsuccessful at several attempts to hold public office, but he was a significant figure in the Mormon-Gentile controversy, movement to secure statehood, and the abatement of the Mormon-Gentile conflict.
