With so much emphasis on studying single words, phrases, verses, and short scriptural pericopes by scriptural commentators and scholars, the holistic approach to the study of scriptural texts is often ignored. Doctrinal/historical/literary themes are brought forward with greater force and are better understood when whole chapters or entire sections of scripture are considered by the student of the scriptures. To prove the point of his thesis, the author proposes that 1 and 2 Nephi should be seen as an inspiring whole by examining the recurring themes, evident correlations, and obvious connections, which unify all the segments and parts that make up these two books.
