Campus OER group

The program is in transition with a plan to hire an Online Learning Dean. Management of OER and related responsibilities is planned to be under the new dean’s purview. Since that decision was made, movement in the program has been minimal, though the librarians still provide support to faculty who request it.
One of the things that is in limbo is the “OER Task Force. And it was led by a couple different faculty members.” The task force included the faculty leads and the librarian who would develop “policies. We came up with workshops.” They also developed a list for students of courses using OER that was on the library website, mandated by the state legislature.
Past success is demonstrated by the numerous conversations with faculty, some that led to adoption, adaptation and creation of OER. In fact, Online Learning is “actively working with librarians and faculty to jumpstart OER” on campus. A required course has just received a grant to transition to open and will be working with librarians in that transition. Open Education Week events are also in the planning stages.
