A survey of 149 respondents to a questionnaire in 10 North American geographical areas representing Canada and the U.S. was undertaken to discover what LDS women read, how much time they spend reading, and where they obtain their reading materials. This data was related to such characteristics as age, education, employment, income, marital status, length of Church membership, and children in the home. The study revealed that LDS women are readers of the scriptures and Church periodicals. Their reading habits and tastes are not markedly different from those found in non-LDS reading surveys and geographical location and community size appear to have no bearing on time spent reading or reading materials chosen. An interesting finding is that Mormon women with less than a higher education read more than non-Mormon women with similar educational backgrounds.
