Begins with a 100 page introduction which gives brief descriptions of the major orchestras and singers commonly found on recordings. These are given in alphabetical order by performer or group name. The main body contains citations listed alphabetically by composer's last name. Multiple works listed alphabetically by genre, then alphabetically by title. Each citation includes the author's opinion of the importance of the piece, the title of the piece and date of composition, the conductor's name, the performer's name, total time of CD, and CD call number.
