Sources specific to Gluck divided into six sections: bibliographies and thematic catalogues, surveys of research, year books and special issues of periodicals, letters, other primary sources, and iconography. Specialized studies divided into six sections: Italian operas, reform operas, comic operas, ballets, instrumental music, and vocal music. Section on collaborators includes sections on choreographers, designers, librettists, singers, and theatre management and archives. All sections listed alphabetically. Three indexes include an author index, organized alphabetically by author's last name, an index of compositions by Gluck, organized alphabetically by title, and an index of proper names, directing the researcher to information about the author's works, organized alphabetically by last name.
