-
Listing of the early composers in the Americas.
-
Lists any composer that is listed, excepting those in church service, in cards, letters or other forms of correspondence between 1493-1600. The author acknowledges that the amount composers included compared to the time period is very small, but this is a starting point.
-
The composers are listed alphabetically by last name. Regarding the common occurrence of 'de,' the 'de' is not included as part of the last name. For each composer, there are abbreviated citations, as well as his birth and death dates (if available), and location. A bibliography is included in the back with the full reference for every earlier citation. A glossary at the end defines less-common words. Black and white drawings with citations are also found at the end, which provide good iconographical sources.
