Subtitled political-literary arts magazine, it is devoted to the fine arts, especially music and theatre, but also painting and literature, and also contains articles on politics and science. It is published weekly (on the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th of each month) with 16 pages, and publishes a separate piece of music for band and also for piano, which are included in the collection at the end of each issue. Its pages also include texts in verse, biographies of composers and singers, chronicles and information about the Real, Princesa and Español theatres in Madrid and about musical societies and bands, as well as technical articles on music. It also includes a society chronicle and a variety chronicle, with commentaries mainly on musical matters. It was directed by Manuel González Araco, and collaborators include Emilio Castelar, Tomás Bretón, José María Ortega, Manuel Berbiela and José Alegría. It is continued by La España (1887).
