Handwritten autobiography and diary. Duke writes about his early life in England, his conversion to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1839, and life in Nauvoo, Illinois. Duke made the overland journey in 1850 from Council Bluffs, Iowa to Salt Lake City, Utah in the James Pace Company. He mentions several deaths in the company from cholera and writes mostly about daily travelling conditions and the company's organization.
