Collection includes correspondence, journals, photographs, newspaper clippings, speechs, and memorabilia. Most of the materials relate to Smoot's career as a senator and his activities as a church leader. His senatorial materials document his work with the United Sates Tariff Commission, as well as his confirmation hearings. His correspondents include the president of the United States: Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, Woodrow Wilson, Warren G. Harding, Calvin Coolidge, and Herbert Hoover and leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: Joseph F. Smith, Heber J. Grant, James E. Talmage, Charles W. Nibley, Richard R. Lyman, and John Henry Smith. Also includes microfilm copies of the journal transcripts.
